Two paths to the Team.
(Non- Certified) Civilian to Patrolman
Non-Certified Applicants must take a civil Service exam which is given twice a year (April and October), or as otherwise determined by civil service. please see the below heading to see when the next test will be.
- Fill out the below application and return it with the required materials
- Pass a background check
- Pass the Civil Service written exam
- Pass a Physical Fitness test consisting of the following
- 1.5 mile run
- push-ups
- sit-ups
- 400 meter sprint
- Pass an oral interview with a board of administration and supervisors
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Able to pass a background check
- Must be physically fit
- Able to pass a psychological evaluation
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
- Posses a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Posses a DD214 Honorable Discharge (Military only)
- Starting pay ranges from $49,070.11-$53,995.54 annually depending on education level.
- 160 hours of paid sick leave a year
- 120 hours of paid vacation
- Unused vacation and sick hour rollover. Sick time caps out at 720 hours, and vacation does not cap out.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Opportunities of large departments in a small town environment

- Monthly in-house training
- Opportunities for off-site training in your choice of specialization.

- One of only six bomb squads in the state
- Active SWAT Team
- Police Canine program
- Criminal investigations
- Narcotic investigations
- Several federal taskforce positions
- School Resource Officer positions
- Crisis Negotiations
(Certified Officers) Department to Department Transfer
- Fill out the below Application and turn in required materials
- Pass a background check
- Pass a work history check with pervious departments
- Pass an oral interview with a board of administrators and supervisors.
- Must be a certified Law Enforcement Officer (in any State)
- Able to pass a background check
- Must be physically fit
- Able to pass a psychological evaluation
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
- Posses a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Posses a DD214 Honorable Discharge (Military only)
- Starting pay ranges from $49,070.11-$63,041.92 annually depending on experience, education, and certificate level.
- 160 hours of paid sick leave a year
- 120 hours of paid vacation
